2nd Annual Dig Deep Fun Run for NAMI – “The Starfish Way”

In 2023, the Dig Deep Fun Run for NAMI – “The Starfish Way” benefits the Jason Garrett Starfish Leadership Academy’s quest to address the mental health challenges that so many of our high school students face today. Starfish Leadership Academy participants from New Dorp High School and Curtis High School in Staten Island initiated this effort and have partnered with the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) to establish a pilot program to attack these mental health concerns and help our students be their best in all aspects of their lives.

1st Annual Dig Deep Fun Run for Digger

The Dig Deep Fun Run was established in June 2022 in honor of our dear friend Coach Steve “Digger” Digregorio who passed away in the fall of 2021. “Digger” coached Jason and his teammates at Princeton before embarking on a distinguished career as a HS coach in NJ. He won the NJ HS Coach of the Year in 2020 at Nutley HS. He was a smart, tough and demanding coach who always brought out the best in his players both on and off the field. He cared deeply about his players. He believed strongly in his players. He made them better players. He made them better men. We were fortunate to have him coach with us at our camp from the Day 1. We are eternally grateful for his impact on all of us and for his friendship. The funds raised from the 1st Annual Dig Deep Fun Run supported the Digregorio family.
